A Book Launch in Toronto
By A Correspondent
Sam Mukherjee's second novel, a thriller titled, In the Name of Love was launched at Q Space on College Street in Toronto on December 11, 2012.
In the Name of Love is a glimpse into the sinister underworld of human trafficking through the experiences of two women - the one an unscrupulous criminal, the other, her victim.
It was released by Inanna Publications, one of only a very few independent feminist presses in Canada committed to publishing fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction by and about women, with the potential to change and enhance women’s lives everywhere.
Sam Mukherjee, a Speechwriter for a Canadian Senator and author of the 2011 novel, Chopped Green Chillies in Vanilla Ice Cream is Inanna's first male author.
"In the Name of Love is a work of fiction," said Mukherjee, "But human trafficking is so very real." He added that as long as the Johns' demand for sex slaves continue, many innocent lives will continue to be lost. Strict law enforcement will be a deterrent for criminals but the real change will have to come from people who buy trafficked humans.
Mukherjee read an action-packed excerpt from his work to a full house and signed many books that evening.
