Twenty-year-old Rahul Kumar, a right to information (RTI) activist, knew the land mafia was behind his parents’ murder. His mother and father were involved in a land dispute in Muzaffarpur’s Sirisia Jagdish village. Barely a week after filing an RTI application to seek information about the murderers, Kumar was kidnapped. A day later, on March 10, 2012, his throat was slit and body was set on fire.

The flawed tripartite Cease-fire Agreement-(CFA) signed with the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) on July 23, 2004, resulted in a split in the outfit. This was ‘exposed’ only in March 2012, with the surfacing of the ‘Breakaway faction’, ANVC-B. This latter formation has been split further, resulting in the formation of another extremist group, the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) in February 2013.

First Naturopathic Medicine Program for Int'l Medical Graduates

On May 6, 22 international medical graduates (IMG) take their first step to becoming regulated Canadian naturopathic doctors, beginning the first-ever naturopathic medicine program delivery offered specifically for IMGs.

The IMG program delivery, launched by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), offers graduates of medical schools an opportunity to further their health care careers in Canada. Applicants to the CCNM program have demonstrated their knowledge through successful completion of either the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) or the United States Medical Licensing Examination Part I (USMLEI).
