Export Development Canada Ranked Among Future 40
Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada

Export Development Canada (EDC) was ranked as the seventh top sustainability performer in Canada, according to the Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada list unveiled on April 3 by Corporate Knights.
“EDC helps Canadian exporters and investors succeed in international business and find new growth opportunities, but as a Crown corporation that operates internationally, we have a clear obligation to make sure the business we support is performed responsibly,” said Signi Schneider, Vice-President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), EDC.
“To be recognized as a CSR leader by Corporate Knights was an important affirmation for EDC of its belief that good CSR is good for the bottom lines of Canadian companies,” said Ms. Schneider.
EDC’s transparency and disclosure practices figured prominently in EDC’s ranking, particularly in its use of the Global Reporting Initiative Framework, one of the world's most prevalent standards for sustainability reporting.
Corporate Knights is a Toronto-based media and investment research company that publishes the world’s largest-circulating magazine focused on sustainable business, and also serves as the secretariat for the Council for Clean Capitalism, a CEO-supported group catalyzing smart and efficient public policy.
“EDC sees being a responsible company as bringing value to both our customers and civil society,” Ms. Schneider added. “With each transaction EDC hopes to demonstrate that, over time, the two concepts are not mutually exclusive.”
