The Diwali Festival of Lights took place on a perfect, sunny Sunday, October 25 with amazing performances, yummy eats, contests and prizes and fireworks!

The Great Punjab Business Centre was teeming with families who came out in full force to enjoy the second annual event, that was presented by Lebara. The outdoor mela’s associate sponsor was Brita. After a Saturday awash with rain, attendees enjoyed the sunshine and comparatively warm weather on Sunday as top vendors from the GTA presented their wares.

Kashmir issue needs political solution, says APHC-M chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq: The Kashmir issue needs a "political solution" and the Centre can't woo its people only by extending financial packages and concessions, All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC-M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said on October 30. "Kashmir is a political issue that needs a political solution. New Delhi can't woo people only by extending financial packages and concession," Mirwaiz said while addressing a gathering in Ganderbal District. Mirwaiz said it was time for Indian leadership to give up its "military approach" in Kashmir and understand that a political resolution and not economic packages alone could resolve the vexed issue of Kashmir. India and EU would soon resume negotiations on the stalled India-EU free trade agreement. In a joint statement issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in New Delhi on Monday, both leaders expressed their “strong commitment to the EU-India Broad Based Trade and Investment Agreement and committed to bring about a resumption of the negotiations as soon as possible.” With political leadership now backing the proposed agreement, the trade negotiators will sit down at the table again to thrash out the remaining issues.
