Drum rolls, please…And welcome Shirish Kunder's short film, Kriti.

Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte and Neha Sharma, it was released online on June 22nd and instantly took the Internet by storm.

3 million views in 5 days!  That's the kind of storm we are talking about.

Kriti is a taut 19-minute psychological thriller with a great five and a half minute single shot.  It does not keep the audience guessing until the very end because they are way too hooked to disassociate themselves from the story to ponder about how it will end.

Kriti is the story of Sapan (Manoj Bajpayee) who suffers from a mental disorder.  He confides in
Kalpana (Radhika Apte), his psychiatrist and discloses his love for, and association with Kriti (Neha Sharma), a woman he has recently met.  Kalpana sows the seed of doubt in Sapan's mind about the actual, physical existence of his newfound love, citing an example from his past, and urges him to get rid of her.  What follows is some intense storytelling and a nail-biting end.

A short story is hard to tell.  But not when a multifaceted talent like Shirish Kunder picks up a pen, gets behind the camera and enters an editing room.  Irreverence is his forte.  And with the dark and intense Kriti, he pushes his actors to be their best.
